The world is an interesting, and confusing place. Finding one's place in it can seem like a daunting adventure. Angel Franquez directs a play that portrays this strange and sometimes scary journey of “Finding Your Name.” The musical theater, to be performed at Mosaic Wine Bar on September 22 at 7pm, follows an anonymous heroine on a quest to find her name, as she meets characters who offer insight into her true identity. Thumbprint Gallery is proud to co-host this special event and performance. The protagonist takes the audience on her journey of transformation and liberation that finds her in the midst of dancers, pop- lockers, fire-spinners, acrobats, acro-yogis and beatboxers. Accompanying all of the madness, will be live body painting, while DJs drop some tasty beats. Not to mention, there will be art from a variety of local artists on exhibition. One of the artists displaying is Isaias Crow. For the Crow, texture is a main source of inspiration. The grit of old buildings, light feathers of birds, and the dew on a petal are all things that can be taken for granted. Crow highlights these things in his works, bringing their importance to the viewer. Color, shape, and the “feeling” of objects are also emphasized. Lauren and Dillon try to bring the divine to the moral plane with their mandalas. Drawing inspiration from music and geometry, the sacred and the earthly realms merge in a visual mediation. Local street artist, Marq, creates a majority of his art at local live art events. He has been very successful and strives to make his work more accessible to the San Diego market. He’s also an adept beat-boxer and harmonica player. Other artists will include Robert Piper and Abel Guzman. The musical theater event opens at 7pm and runs until 12am on September 22th. Mosaic Wine Bar is located at 3422 30th Street, 2nd Floor, in downtown San Diego. There is no dress code and cover is $5. However, you must be at least 21 years old to attend. For more information call 619-906-4747.
