After nearly five years of running saveib.com, webmaster Ed Kravitz is shutting down the Imperial Beach political watchdog website.
Since launching the site in September 2006, Kravitz has criticized Imperial Beach elected officials and city staff to show, what he believed was rampant corruption in Imperial Beach. He did so by using mocked-up images of politicians, and by posting harsh accusations about elected officials.
But, according to Kravitz, he failed at his biggest goal of getting the community involved in their local government.
"We're ending our website due to lack of community support and participation," wrote Kravitz in a May 12 email.
"The screwing you get from local government is the screwing you deserve for not caring enough to make it change for the better. If it's corruption that you want then that's what you get. I tried to lead the horse to water but couldn't make it drink. You're on your own, I.B.!"
