The update from San Diego Music TV's Megan Erickson:
"As of right now," she emails, "there has been no recovery of any of the items that we taken during the robbery at our office/studio, but the investigation is still ongoing and we hope that there will eventually be some closure with this case."
Some time during the weekend of March 30, thieves forced their way into the music video production company's studio-office complex in Poway. They made off with computer equipment, cameras, and hard drives containing unedited footage of local bands taped in performance for playback on SD Music TV's own web site and on their YouTube channel.
Erickson, 27, is the founder of SD Music TV. A non-practicing lawyer, Erickson says that she has lived here since the age of seven. Last October, she opened up her music video shop with underwriting from private investors. What she described to me back in April amounted to a bad April Fool's day.
"I was asleep at the time the phone call came." It was an employee on the other end of the line, calling to tell her he'd gotten to work early on Monday morning and discovered the break in.
"He said the computers were gone. I thought it was an April fool's joke. But when I got there, I saw that the door had been pried open."
Now, that's all behind her.
"There has been an outpouring of support from all the bands that we have worked with and even bands that we have not yet worked with, which we are very humbled by. Through a lot of hard work we are back up and running at full speed here at San Diego Music TV."
As of this writing, there is still no update on the investigation. SD Music TV has offered a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest or the recovery of the stolen property.
