Third annual Comic Con Nerd-a-thon showcase at The Merrow

Tiny Nightmare Productions hosts two days of dork with Nerf Herder, Kirby Krackle, MegaRan, Dualcore, Wordburglar, Danimal Cannon, and more.

The third annual Comic Con Nerd-a-thon will span two days - July 19 and July 20 - showcasing geek rock, nerdcore hip-hop, and back-to-back performances from the geek-girl burlesque dancers of The Devil’s Playground Burlesque at The Merrow (formerly the Ruby Room - 1271 University Ave. - Hillcrest)

The first showcase on July 19 will feature geek rock gods Nerf Herder, Kirby Krackle and H2Awesome with Jessabelle Thunder as Storm from X-men and Olivia Bellafontaine as The Baroness from G.I. Joe.

The July 20 showcase will feature nerdcore hip-hop legends MegaRan, Dualcore, Wordburglar, Danimal Cannon and local hip-hop artist El Gun Legro with Olivia Bellafontaine as Princess Leia and Jessabelle Thunder as The Imperial Officer from Star Wars.

Nerf Herder, a self-proclaimed Santa Barbara geek-rock band that got their start in 1994, is best known for composing the theme song for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and will be headlining the first night of the two-night event.

Nerf Herder performed at a monthly Nerdcore Night this past April to a sold out show.

Kirby Krackle, a Seattle-based geek rock band, will be making Comic Con Nerd-a-thon the third stop on their West Coast tour with H2Awesome, promoting their new album Sounds Like You to be released on July 9.

Kirby Krackle is known for their clean sound, catchy melodies, and geek-centric music themes.

Capcom’s favorite teacher-turned-rapper Megaran's unique combination of fantasy and true-to-life music has garnered respect and admiration from some of the genre’s toughest critics.

His music can be heard in Portlandia, Rock Band, and university courses at colleges such as Virginia Tech and Miami University.

Dual Core, professional computer hacker and weekend touring rapper, had a top-selling online album last year and just wrapped up a tour in the UK with last year’s headliner, MC Lars.

WordBurglar is a Canadian nerdcore rapper most known for his energy and unique word play.

WordBurglar was nominated for Canadian Music Week's Indie Awards in the category of Favorite Urban Artist/Group or Duo, as well as winning the fan-voted award for Best Lyrics from CBC Radio 3 for his song "Word Owner."

Danimal Cannon is a chiptune artist who will be on tour with MegaRan at the time of Comic Con Nerd-a-thon.

He has performed at MAGfest, PAX east, PAX prime and has toured with The Protomen and Powerglove among other heavy-hitters in the genre.

The show is set to be an intimate setting with limited tickets available for $20 online and at the door.
