One thing you know: Bub’s is going to be rockin’ tonight.
I know, ’cause I was there Wednesday night and it looked like Bub’s @ The Ballpark (715 J Street, 619-546-0815) had sucked the crowd from every other place nearby. A rockin’ island.
Of course, yes, this was Wing Wednesday. Meaning, 25 cents per wing.
Maybe it’s the generosity of the wing idea, but everyone’s in a good mood. It’s a crowd, but the zeitgeist is open, friendly. Before I’m through I talk with ex-Navy Seals, insurance guys, students, you name it. We’re all jes’ barflies milling together in the hive.
I could have sat out on the terrace overlooking J. Very cool, with the sun setting down J at the bay. But I never get away from the bar outside the kitchen where I went, just to speed up the wing process.
Long and short is Kacy, who’s looking after this section, says you have to get a minimum of five. That’s all of, Lordy, $1.25. You can have teriyaki, teriyaki spicy, Buffalo, Naked, Archy, BBQ…

Think I ordered the Buffalo. Plus I get a Bud Light Draft ($3.75), and at a cost of $5.39 with tax, settle into a great and messy half hour. Oh, I spend another $1.25 for more buffalo wings, and they are totally delish. And filling.
