Still Time to Qualify for May 10 Big Screen Movie Trivia Contest at House of Blues

May 10. Thank God for the rain which has helped wash away the cinephiles and movie mavens off the sidewalks and into the House of Blues for The Big Screen's big anniversary blowout/trivia contest!

Reader Andy and I were there last week to give the place a logistical once over. They're not cramming us into some phone booth on the second floor. We'll be in the sumptuous Crossroads Restaurant with a street view and our own bar! Security guards will be on hand to pat down the participants — Lickona and I have many enemies — just like at a press screening!

There will be $2 to $4 food and drink specials, and HOB is nice enough to extend the ample Happy Hour menu until end of show just for us! In addition, everyone present will get a ticket to Local Brews Local Grooves All Access show put on by Listen Local SD.

It's not too late to qualify for The Big Screen trivia contest and its grand prize of a 2013 pass for two good at any Reading Cinema! The party is open to all, but in order to participate you must first answer these five qualifying brain-teasers. Names will be drawn from a hat and winners will be contacted on or before the day of the show.

There will be pre-show trivia questions with Reading Cinema passes (for one) and Reader swag to those with the correct answers. Doors open at 6 pm and the contest begins at 7:30 pm. Be there!

Additional thanks to All Things San Diego and SD Centric for helping to spread the word and Brian Rubinstein at Sunset Entertainment for production assistance. And an extra special shout out to Shervia Sana, HOB's Brand Marketing Manager (and first place winner in the Sofia Coppola lookalike contest) for her invaluable assistance.
