Lightning Brewery

Former biochemist Jim Crute opened Poway’s first brewery in order to bring beers he had homebrewed for over two decades to market. Those beers are mostly Germanic in nature and include a number of lagers. For years, he attested he would never brew an IPA, and technically, he hasn’t. He has, however, produced a double IPA and added more hops to his porter, giving it something of a black IPA feel and flavor. Tastings are held in the brewery where devoted volunteers pour samples and share stories about the brewery with guests.
