One of the foothills at the north end of Santee seems to be sprouting large Easter eggs.
Just off the road and up the hill from the 10000 block of Healy Way, five large boulders have been painted different pastel colors. This photo, taken on October 27, includes boulders painted yellow, green, orange, and a very light blue one on the crest of the hill.
The uppermost reddish boulder was stained by Cal Fire several years ago when one of their firefighting bombers dropped retardant on the ridge. Since then, my confidential informant (an athlete at nearby Santana High School) has reported that various teams are assigned to run up to the rocks and back as part of their physical training.
