Escondido The 40 X 60 foot American flag that flew over the Escondido Auto Park has now been replaced after being stolen sometime between New Year's Eve and New Year’s Day 2009. Tim and Tom Brecht of Brecht BMW told a North County Times reporter that someone had apparently used bolt cutters to break locks off the flagpole's two electrical boxes and hotwired the key-operated winch to bring down the 120-pound banner Since the flag is replaced every six months anyway, it was almost due for another swap. As of Saturday, January 10th, the new flag was flying high.
