Short Stuff

Joshua and Zachary Wheeler (Scarlet Symphony, Society!) play every Sunday morning for the Beautiful Rescue, the Mission Gathering's worship band. While Zach has been playing bass for Mission for over a year, Josh joined in on drums in early December. They play every Sunday at 10:30 at the Birch North Park Theatre.

Gary Bahen, owner of Accident Prone Records, has moved back to San Diego from Portland. Accident Prone has put out records by locals such as Tiltwheel and Counterfit since 1997. Bahen says, "I was gone for just shy of four years.... The label and screenprinting arms of Accident Prone are both intact and ready for SD."

We can also welcome a new project from Drew, former drummer of Motionless and the Binge. He moved to Seattle in early 2007, but now he's back and doing an acoustic duo with his brother called Save Amos. Catch them on January 25 at Across the Street (4603 Park Boulevard, Mueller College).

If you went to the White Buffalo show at the Casbah November 30, you may have seen a guy who resembles White Buffalo, who played that night. Well, the other guy is Johnny Janiga. He's in a duo called Podunk Nowhere. Johnny and his wife Heather make music with a Southern flair and well-crafted guitar changes. Maybe you heard some on FM/94.9's local holiday show.
