For the Little People

Large-venue concert after-parties at which the performers show up have become more frequent at the Casbah. "We did a Faint after-party last December that was pretty successful," says owner Tim Mays. "Two of the guys [Todd Fink and Jacob Thiele] came over and DJ'd from midnight to 1:30 a.m.... We've worked with the band over the years, and we contacted them and asked them to come in [after the concert]."

When Indie Jam was held at Chula Vista's Devore Stadium June 10, headliners Interpol agreed to a Casbah after-party.

"FM 94.9 helped arrange them coming in to DJ," says Mays. "Sam [Fogarino] from Interpol came over and DJ'd. He got there about midnight and played music till closing time."

Attendee Rosey Bystrak at sddialedin.com posted her theory as to why the Interpol drummer arrived so late.

"Apparently back at Indie Jam, their dog that they take on tour went missing. Story goes that the guys in Kings of Leon don't like the Interpol boys and [hid the dog].... One of 'em finally showed up [to DJ] and we finished off the night."
