Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin, like a pocket-issue Marlo Thomas) is the best friend of Darcy (Kate Hudson, still a junior issue of her mother, Goldie Hawn), who plans to marry Dex (Colin Egglesfield, a streamlined issue of Tom Cruise). Loads of old history curl into new plot twists as the women angle for the hunk (the men are like wild game ready for taming). It’s the kind of chick flick where gal-pals improvise a synchronized hip-hop dance, then fall into confessional intimacy. The cast, including funny horndog Steve Howey, is better than the material, served as TV candy in glossy New York by director Luke Greenfield. (2011) — David Elliott
