Slice of Latino life in Echo Park, centered around a pregnant virgin (Emily Rios) a few months shy of her fifteenth birthday, "the day she becomes a woman." (Her boyfriend's suggested name for the baby: "If he's a boy, we can call him Jesús.") The filmmakers, Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, take an equal if not greater interest in the girl's homosexual cousin, the boy-toy of a next-door Anglo couple who represent the gentrification of the neighborhood. Flat acting all around, warmed up by the best of intentions. Jesse Garcia, David Ross, Chalo González. (2006) — Duncan Shepherd
