A National Geographic production presented by the Scotts (Ridley, Tony), spliced from short videos made by amateurs in many countries on one day (July 24, 2010). There are some remarkable shots and events (a giraffe’s birth, a boy’s first shave, a storm, sky diving, a lethal crush of fans at a “love parade”). People include a kid worried about his sick mom, a Korean biking all over the world for years, a girl lamenting that she is boring, a gay teen coming out. Gone are the slowly paced, meditative discoveries of the great Family of Man photo exhibit, and now life seems a rush of channel surfing. (2011) — David Elliott
