Men of Clay were an early eighties San Diego garage band fronted by Clay Colgin (Dogs with Masks), then an editor of a local fanzine called Bamboohead. They turned up around town everywhere from Montgomery High to the Zebra Club, landing one of their tunes on the 1983 compilation album Our Blow Out. The band also included at various times Bob Satterlee (whose drummer son later played with Meaty Diabetes and Blue Heron) and drummer Dan Mehlos (the Front and Personal Conflict), as well as Hugh Isbell, John January, and others. Scott Bauer (Lucy's Fur Coat) also drummed for the group.
In 2010, Clay Colgin became part of the electronic duo Eris Sisters, with Kristi Maddocks (Everybody Violet).
