Dreamy psych-pop band Marqay features members of Tiger Milk Imports. "Our agenda for our live performances has always been to take the audience, and ourselves, on an emotional and auditory ascent, which climaxes with the very last note played," says Christopher Plaia. "Personally, when I go to shows, I love bands who keep building on their energy even when it seems like they can't take it any further, and that's something that we strive to do with our live set: keep rising, no plateaus! It's become a very natural progression for us."
A debut full-length called Double Carousel was released in 2014. "It was recorded over an extended period of time, fall 2012 through spring 2014, at Earthling Studios by the ever-present Mike Kamoo. The album cover is a photo I took of my girlfriend floating off a beach in Thailand and it's title is a reference to a part in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, when Hunter and Oscar are trying to lose their way through the Circus Circus casino, high on ether. The scene is a riot, in both the book and the film, and naming our album Double Carousel was my way of honoring the Great Doctor."
The album features guest guitarist Alex Dausch on "West Tonight" and "Water's Edge."
