Based in Pacific Beach, female violinist Jamie Shadowlight played jazz and Latin-influenced music. Her ambitious local performances included a version of West Side Story staged with local legend Gilbert Castellanos as a Latin love story for trumpet and violin.
With her instrument of choice being a 5-string NS WAV electric violin matched with various effects pedals, her band over the years included former Tommy Bolin drummer Russell Bizzett.
In 2023, Shadowlight was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. She passed away in June 2024.
