Huge Shark is the musical project of Valerie Polichar, whose EP Almost Over dropped in 2015.
A debut full-length called Everything was released in early 2023, mastered by Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Joe Lambert (The National, The Black Crowes). Over the course of seven years, Polichar recorded new arrangements of older compositions and penned five new tracks. “Recording work from another part of my life lets me see through a window into my past emotional self,” she says. “What amazes me is how consistent my heart has been, how familiar and immediate those long-ago feelings are. The songs are little communication lines through time to which I hope others, too, will connect.”
Guest contributors include Garry Franklin (U.S.) on vocals, Gary Gahan (Canada) on saxophones, Hilliat Fields (United Kingdom) on guitars and Ebow, Pete Nickerson (Canada) on drums, and bass and Michael Wojtasiak (U.S.) on guitars. The record was promoted with video for "Everything," a lyric video for "Lose Your Love," and Scottish filmmaker Robin Johnston's 2018 video for "Red Flares" was remixed and remastered for the release.
