Ghostbird was formed in late 2008 by drummer Mike Cooper (Transfer) and frontman Trent Hancock. Their friendship allowed for experimentation as the two began working on tracks at Capricorn Studios with the help of several local musicians, including co-producer Bryan Stratman, guitarist Jeffery Downer (Sexy Moments, Blues from a Gun), and singer Joy Bishop (Hello Sunshine).
After their debut release, Hancock ended up leaving San Diego for a couple of years (Brooklyn, L.A.). When he returned to San Diego, he launched a new band with Alfred Howard (Midnight Pine) called Lion and the Lady, whose debut full-length was released in March 2015.
