Singer Christopher Dale earned his local bones in bands like Grays Well and Superdoo, before becoming a solo performer known as Scorch. Within a few years, he racked nearly a dozen nominations for San Diego Music Awards.
In 2010, at the age of 42, the native San Diegan released a ten track solo album, Songs I Know the Words To, which included a ukulele version of the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated.”
As of 2015, he was performing around town with the Christopher Dale Trio, alongside Matt Silvia (SweetTooth, Mascot Mantra, Shamey Jays) and Nicki Carano (Spider Tree). In January 2016, Carano was killed by a falling tree during a severe windstorm.
@022 found Dale launching his Spring Across America Tour, which kicked off in San Diego with a house concert at his mom's home and included his first Alabama appearance, two SXSW showcases in Austin, TX and several Arizona and Florida dates. While on the road, he performed his rendition of the Ozzy Osbourne classic "Crazy Train" on the SatireRockCity.com Radio Show. His EP Where the Road Turns To Sand was released later that year.
At the tail end of the Covid pandemic, Dale filmed an appearance in Santa Cruz for writer/director James Nguyen's independent film Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle. He also began developing at TV series, Here Comes Christopher Dale, for which he wrote a theme song and produced a trailer.
"I'm bringing social reality to TV," he explained. "Every year, I pack up my SUV and tour cross-country as a solo acoustic performer. I stay in people’s homes all along the way getting up close and personal with my hosts, their family, friends, and neighbors while performing in their living rooms, backyards, front yards and cul-de-sacs. I’m listening to interesting stories, enjoying many local flavors, and interacting with amusing pets as I'm filled with gratitude! Social media only gives you a glimpse of what these wonderful encounters are really like. I want everyone to have the chance to be a part of this journey because the most important lesson I have learned from all of this is that we are all connected and I love how live music brings us together."
