Fronted by Katie Howard (Citrus), lounge-grunge band Big Bloom released their debut EP in 2014, followed in July 2016 by the full-length Heavy Angel.
"The album is a representation of how our music has changed a lot in the past year," says Howard, "and we allowed ourselves to be raw and unapologetic, forgetting boundaries and genres.” The July 2016 release party at the Casbah included Splavender, the Bad Vibes, and visual projections by Xavier Vasquez.
Drummer Sean Daly also plays DIY surf punk garage rock as Slay Dean, alongside Big Bloom bassist Grant Glibert, releasing a debut full-length Red Tape in 2014. A comedic Christmas EP was released in December 2016 under the name Sleigh Dean, XMas, with seven songs clocking in at around two minutes each.
Their summer 2017 album Decomposure includes a cover of Neil Young's "Don't Let it Bring You Down." A music video for the song "Sex in the Bathroom" features scenes shot at Live Wire by director Bridey Hicks.
